Fall brings open windows, cooler air, cozy gatherings, and often a renewed desire to refresh the spaces around us. This easy DIY cleaning spray combines distilled water, white vinegar, and our aromatic PROTECT Essential Oil Blend for a simple seasonal home-care ritual.
PROTECT combines Cinnamon Bark, Clove Bud, Sweet Orange, Eucalyptus Globulus, and Rosemary Cineole essential oils for a warm, fresh, spice-forward aroma that feels especially at home during autumn.
This recipe is designed as an everyday surface-cleaning and refreshing spray. It is not intended or represented as a disinfectant.
BEGINNER RECIPE
Fall Refresh All-Purpose Cleaning Spray
Warm Citrus · Aromatic Spice · Fresh Herbal Notes
What You'll Need
- 1 cup distilled water
- 1 cup distilled white vinegar
- 10–15 drops PROTECT Essential Oil Blend
- 16 oz spray bottle
- Small funnel, optional
- Blank label for your finished spray
This recipe intentionally does not combine Castile soap with vinegar. Vinegar is acidic and can disrupt true soap, reducing its effectiveness and creating an undesirable mixture. We recommend keeping vinegar-based and Castile-soap-based cleaning recipes separate.
Directions
- Add 1 cup distilled water to a clean 16 oz spray bottle.
- Add 1 cup distilled white vinegar.
- Add 10–15 drops PROTECT Essential Oil Blend. Start at the lower amount if you prefer a softer aroma.
- Secure the sprayer and shake well.
- Label the bottle with the recipe name and preparation date.
- Shake thoroughly before every use because essential oils do not remain permanently dispersed in water and vinegar.
- Spray onto an appropriate surface or cleaning cloth, then wipe clean.
Inside the PROTECT Aroma
Cinnamon Bark
Rich, intense spice that immediately gives the blend its warm, recognizable character.
Clove Bud
Deep, aromatic spice that complements Cinnamon Bark and adds fullness.
Sweet Orange
Bright citrus that lifts the heavier spices and keeps the aroma lively.
Eucalyptus Globulus
Fresh, penetrating aromatic notes that bring clarity to the overall blend.
Rosemary Cineole
Crisp herbal character that rounds out the citrus, spice, and eucalyptus.

Where to Use It
This spray can be useful for routine cleaning on compatible, vinegar-safe household surfaces such as many sealed laminate surfaces, some appliance exteriors, and other washable areas when permitted by the surface manufacturer.
Always spot-test in an inconspicuous area first.
Important Surface + Use Precautions
- Do not use vinegar on natural stone such as marble, limestone, travertine, or other acid-sensitive surfaces.
- Use caution on granite, grout, wood, painted surfaces, and specialty finishes. Follow the manufacturer's cleaning recommendations.
- Do not spray directly onto electronics or screens.
- Keep away from eyes and sensitive skin.
- Keep the mixture out of reach of children.
- If pets share your home, clean with good ventilation and keep them away from freshly sprayed surfaces until those surfaces are completely dry.
- Do not spray this formula directly on people, animals, pet bedding, food, or food-contact surfaces unless the surface is subsequently rinsed appropriately.
Want a Soap-Based Cleaner Instead?
Prefer a formula made with liquid soap instead of vinegar? Try a separate Castile-soap cleaning recipe rather than combining Castile soap and vinegar in the same bottle.
Pure Intox Organic Castile Soap is available for DIY home and body-care formulations.
FORMULATION TIP
Make the Aroma Your Own
For a lighter aroma, begin with 10 drops of PROTECT. For a more noticeable aromatic presence, increase gradually up to 15 drops per 16 oz batch. Cinnamon Bark and Clove Bud are naturally strong aromatic materials, so more is not necessarily better.
