Jojoba Oil is obtained from the seeds of Simmondsia chinensis, a shrub native to the arid regions of North America. Although commonly called an oil, jojoba is technically composed primarily of liquid wax esters rather than the triglycerides found in most plant oils.
This distinctive composition gives jojoba its lightweight skin feel, excellent oxidative stability, and affinity for both skin and hair. Jojoba wax esters also share structural similarities with wax esters naturally present in human sebum.
