INCI: Sodium Hyaluronate / Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid

Multi-level humectant hydration for softer, smoother, and more supple-looking skin.

What Is Hyaluronic Acid?

Hyaluronic Acid is a naturally occurring polysaccharide found within the skin and other connective tissues. In cosmetic formulations, hyaluronic acid and its derivatives are valued primarily as humectants—ingredients that attract and help retain water within the skin's surface layers.

Skincare formulas may use different forms and molecular sizes of hyaluronic acid to create a more comprehensive hydration profile. Sodium Hyaluronate and Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid are two forms commonly incorporated into modern hydrating skincare.

Sodium Hyaluronate vs. Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid

Sodium Hyaluronate is the sodium salt of hyaluronic acid. It is water-soluble and widely used in serums, creams, eye treatments, and other hydrating formulations for its ability to bind water and support a soft, supple skin feel.

Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid is produced by breaking hyaluronic acid into smaller fragments. Its lower molecular size gives formulators another way to build hydration into a product and can complement other forms of hyaluronic acid within the same formula.

Using more than one form allows a formulation to approach hydration from different molecular-size ranges rather than relying on a single hyaluronic acid ingredient.

Benefits

Hyaluronic Acid ingredients help attract and retain moisture, supporting skin that feels hydrated, soft, and comfortably conditioned. Increased surface hydration can also help reduce the appearance of dryness-related fine lines and give the complexion a smoother, more supple appearance.

Because hyaluronic acid provides hydration without adding substantial oiliness, it works particularly well in formulas designed to balance water-based hydration with botanical oils, emollients, peptides, and other skincare actives.

Why We Use Multiple Forms of Hyaluronic Acid

At Pure Intox, different forms of Hyaluronic Acid are selected to build layered hydration into treatment-focused skincare. Combining humectants with complementary molecular characteristics helps us create formulas that address moisture from more than one formulation perspective.

This approach is especially useful in facial moisturizers and eye treatments, where effective hydration should leave the skin feeling comfortable and supple without unnecessary heaviness.

Sourcing & Quality

The Hyaluronic Acid ingredients used in modern cosmetic formulations are commonly produced through controlled biotechnology and fermentation processes. We select cosmetic-grade ingredients for purity, consistency, molecular characteristics, and compatibility with the intended formula.

The specific form, molecular size, concentration, and combination with other humectants and emollients all influence how a hyaluronic acid ingredient performs within a finished skincare product.
