Lightweight botanical conditioning with a soft, silky feel.
What Is Babassu Oil?
Babassu Oil is a botanical oil obtained from the kernels of the babassu palm, a species native to South America. Naturally rich in lauric and myristic fatty acids, it has a light, smooth character that makes it useful across a variety of skincare, body-care, and cleansing formulations.
Babassu Oil is often compared with coconut oil because the two share some similarities in their fatty-acid profiles and solid-to-melting characteristics. Babassu, however, offers its own distinctive sensory profile and formulation properties.
Benefits
In skincare and body-care formulations, Babassu Oil functions as an emollient, helping soften and condition the skin while contributing a smooth, lightweight after-feel.
Its naturally occurring fatty acids also make it useful in traditional soapmaking. When incorporated into a properly balanced soap formula, Babassu Oil can contribute to cleansing performance and the character of the finished lather while complementing other botanical oils and butters.
Why We Use Babassu Oil
At Pure Intox, Babassu Oil is selected when a formulation benefits from botanical conditioning combined with the functional properties of a lauric-rich plant oil.
In handcrafted soap, it works alongside other carefully selected oils to help create a balanced cleansing experience while contributing to the structure, lather, and sensory qualities of the finished bar.
